On Random Waves of Insight, there's a post about how to alter the brain to cure addiction. It's called Brain Damage Cures Cigarette Smokers. Can you imagine how powerful this technique could be in the future? Especially if we could learn how to achieve similar results with no real damage?
If we figure out how the brain works, 100%, we could tweak and refine it to incredible ends. We could cure all addicts, enhance intelligence, maybe even harness psychic powers! What if we were all suddenly telepathic? Would that change everything?
I think it would.
