Not just in an imagined, symbolic form. I mean in a sentient, self-aware way.
Did we create him? Or did he create his own legend?
Is Santa a ghost? Or an alien presence?
An angel or an ascended human?
Is Santa a visitor from the future?
Is he pulling our strings? Is he ensuring enduring hope and joy?
We created him... and changed his clothing colour from green to the now typified red when Coca Cola decided to use him for advertising.
